General English

This program is for adults who need language skills for everyday communication. It starts at the first level for learners who have no previous knowledge of the target language, and leads up to the highest level of proficiency (C2) of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEF).

MAKING LEARNING POSSIBLE FOR ALL

Being able to speak English is not just about being able to communicate with native English speakers, it’s about being able to communicate worldwide. English is the most common second language in the world, so learning English is important as it enables you to communicate easily with your fellow global citizens.

LEVELS

A1/ A2 – Basic command of the language in some everyday situations.
B1/ B2 – Limited command of the language in a range of familiar situations.
C1/ C2 – Effective command of the language in a fair number of situations.

The General Purpose Program (GPP) is designed to meet a whole range of needs for a range of levels, starting from the absolute beginner to more advanced students. The courses are highly interactive allowing you to practice the structure, vocabulary and expressions necessary for everyday life and in any situation. The focus of the lessons is to help build confidence. As a result, we encourage learners to start speaking in the target language right from day one. Realistic classroom practice is provided through a variety of activity-based procedures: role-play, fact-gathering tasks and problem-solving. The students’ material includes reading, writing and listening activities that encourage students to review classroom learning.
